deutsch karneval...

all around the world, this past weekend was carnival.
no exception here in deutschland.
(yes, i did feel the need to make a fun banner for this event...)
oh! it was so much fun!
i, of course, love any reason to dress up, drink, and dance.
the night started with a pre-party at our house, with karaoke, of course.

(here i am with osama bin helge+wolfgang the waiter)
my friend, begi, came too.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
dani and wolfgangs' friends came over, and they are so fun.
especially helge and wolle.
wolle was mozart/paul revere/a pirate
and helge was a terrorist.
naturally.
dani was a ladybug, an i, a bee.
i heart singing.
even though i'm super horrible.
when we all finally went downtown, i think i sang 3 karaoke duets.
but i can't remember...
it was like halloween, but better.
maybe because i'm only used to american halloween house parties.
where guys don't participate.
and 16 year old girls look like strippers.
...........
maybe because here in germany, everyone participates and is out on the streets drinking by 10:00am.
and rocking awesome outfits in bars, pubs, and clubs later that night.
............
way better than halloween.

(i used, like, three of the same photos twice. ugh i hate when that happens. oh, and also, yes that was a purposefully inappropriate use of the word 'like')

rockin' the casbah. rock the casbah.

group shot lovin'.

love this shot.
+++++++++++++++++
later we met up with paul + henning.
and stay at the club for.ev.er.
but in a good way, we were having a blast.
.................................................................................................
then, for more fun...today in kindergarten, cajus' and his classmates got to dress up and party

such cuties.
cajus' was a devil.
there were mermaids, princesses, fairies, vampires, spidermen, firemen, cowboys, pirates, witches, skeletons, and more!

hope your weekend was just as colorful and fun.

hugs.

bowling in the streets...

did you read that with the tune from:
dancin' in the streeee-eeeets
i did.
anyway, this past weekend meine deutsch familie y yo met up with friends for outdoor bowling.
(see what i did there, trilingual sentences. all the rage.)
and it is just as it sounds.
plus beer, and shots, of course.
here is: elias' face after sour candy; a child lugging a wagon full of beer; and the two wolfgangs'
plus cajus, henning, and another little playing with sticks while the adults bowled.

 alex & zulle were in charge.
here they are getting everyone started.
henning is so attentive.
i think i have a picture of him doing the exact same thing at the summer highlive party.
i'll have to dig it up.

this was only half of the group.
copious amount of people.

love all of the hats.
 best friends: cajus and henning.
so stinkin' cute.

how much reflective gear can i get in one photo?
emma, klaus, and henning

this was fun to play with.
the kids waiting patiently to get started.
[marlene, elias, cajus, rebecca,____, emma, & lani]

i fail at poetry.

i have neglected editing through photos from the weekend.
standard.
however, maybe i can get caught up with this whole
"thirty days of blogging thing"
except, no, i can't.
the next challenge is telling me to write a poem to someone i love.
well i love lots of people, and i could write entire essays about the affection i have towards them.
but a poem?
i can't.
i love reading poetry, i think it is beautiful, but my creative mind stops shorty before having to produce, and share and original work of poetry.
{have i said poem/poetry/poems enough?}
poem.
there, now i have.
+++
so instead, i'll share my most favorite love poem ever, in honor of the last day of february.

love sonnet 18
william shakespeare
-------------
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this and this gives life to thee.

que bonita.

out and about...

this was friday morning.
i like skies, i do.
 after i dropped the boy off at school, i headed downtown for some art supplies.
[more on that, later...]
i was in a super artsy mood and was loving the graffiti down town.
 i was also loving starbucks.
but i only have it on rare occasions.
a lot better than my previous one a day addiction back home.
keep in mind that it's freezing here, but i still love my coffee cold.
when the barista asked where i was from (apparently my accent was detecable through my half ass deutsch...)
i told her, california.
she then said, oh so you always are used to iced drinks. must be nice.
i said, yes, yes it was.
+++
 i'm a sucker for skies.
bright, colorful, dream like skies.

mi favorito.
guten nacht, liebe.

cutie alert...

cuteness overload, no doubt.
------------------------------------------------------
day 11: bucket list
man oh, man.
there's quite a few things i'd like to do in my lifetime.
and i know i've probably written it down somewhere since i write down everything.
but don't quote me on that.
here's a few off the top of my head:
+take a hot air balloon ride+
+teach high school+
+swoon over live spanish guitar+
+run a successful art & craft-like business+
+learn to knit, and play the guitar+
+buy a mid-century home in need of tlc & spruce the hell out of it+
+photograph coney island+
+get published, in print or online+
+write someone a letter, everyday, for one year+
+become more confident in the kitchen+
and saving the best for last...
+visit every olympic stadium in the whole entire, super, duper big world+
