heineken: the experience

the heineken experience deserves it's own post.
when my mom went in december, before i arrived on the scene, she told me how awesome the brewery was.
so, i knew that this time around we had to go.

you walk into the brewery, and right away your given an awesome wrist band with two beer tokens on it.
so right off the bat you're intrigued.

first we walked through the history of the company.
adriaan heineken started the company when he was 22.
which kind of makes me feel like i should be more productive with my life...but not really.
i loved the vintage posters, awards, and coasters. i was pretty bummed there weren't replicas for sale in the gift shop. i did get a nice t-shirt...but before that, one of the best parts is the simulator ride where you watch a video from the p.o.v of the beer. with a moving floor and water spraying out into your face, it's realistic. it's fun.

afterwards you get to go into the taste room where you are taught the proper way to drink beer (big gulp, don't sip at the foam) and then you get to make an awesome video.
don't judge me...i was buzzed.
anyway, then you get to make your way into the bar and grab your two free beers.
they were yummy.
kendall doesn't like beer, so i took hers and in total had five before noon.
that led to this:
i can be a weirdo some times. but it's all good. plus i'm obsessed with my new nike's that were purchased in amsterdam.
so, long story short, when in amsterdam, go to the heineken experience. it's awesome, it's fun, it's worth it!

kendall's visit: part three

so, we went to amsterdam when kendall was here.
the night before, we were out with the boys and decided, "hey! why don't you guys come with us?!"
well, since they are pretty rad, they said, "okay!"
so, henning, jan, kendall, and myself left the train station bright, early, and tipsy, headed for amsterdam.
to chronicle our journey, i'll write it in the form of a love letter.

dear amsterdam,
i think i'm in love with you.
actually, i know that i am.
after experiencing you one time prior, i had to come back for more.
not once, not twice, but three times.

i love your architecture.

i love your graffiti.

i love your canals.

i love your flowers.

i love your signs and treasures painted on buildings.

i love your colorful stores.

i also love how you are a wee bit dangerous.
making us feel lucky to have some german men with us to stroll your dark streets at night.
i've always had a thing for danger and mystery.

amsterdam, i think it's clear where we are headed.
i know i'm leaving your continent in three weeks, but i will come back for you.
i always have.
you are the bomb.com, the bees knees, the cheese to my macaroni.
also, i want to live here:

until we meet again.
yours,
hayley

kendall's visit: part two

since she's only 18, girlfriend loved being able to oreder and consume alcohol in public:
---------------
stage one: the sex on the beach she ordered came out as a mai tai. this is sad.

stage two: it's on fire! okay, she's warming up to it. pun intended?

stage three: jan shows her how to tackle the flaming mai tai without getting burned.

stage four: okay, she's excited. it's gone in five minutes.

stage five: now that we've got a buzz going let's make a trip to the bathroom to fix our faces/have a mirror pic photo shoot.

stage six: kendall decides that my hair makes me resemble kate beckinsale and i gladly take this compliment because she is a hottie.

stage seven: okay now we are just being weird.

stage eight: we are happy because we just devoured döner.

stage nine: end of the night photos with jan. kendall is enjoying europe.

stage ten: blurry photos=go home. which we did.

so there you have it. my process of introducing kendall to a german night out.
you'll notice that i didn't include photos from inside the actual club. that's because we were having too much fun and i forgot to take out the camera. standard. but, side note to my family...we did get home safely and were with strong german men who protected us the whole time. i don't drink without some boys present...hopefully that puts you at ease, mother.
=============
next up: amsterdam!

kendall's visit: part one

so as you know, about two weeks ago, kendall arrived on the scene here in germany.
it was her first time in europe, and i was so excited to share my city with my bff.
we didn't take a ton of pictures (weird, i know. i take pictures of everything), but we did have a lot of fun between hanging with cajus, going out with friends, and our trip to amsterdam!
here's the first installment of our journey:

we went on nature walks, hung out with cajus, and took him to the park.
i think that kendall and i may have had more fun though.
the parks here are not as cool as the ones in the u.s...

i had to.
how could i not.
little man loves trying to climb in my window.

we enjoyed the last day of maiwoche, and the cocktail station.
 blurry, but i love it.

here are some views from the elevator going up to a roof top bar.

she liked that it roughly translates to black man chocolate.

 pretty skies,
and amusing nature walks.

next up: drinking+amsterdam!
